This quartet was written for the New York Saxophone Quartet for their performance at the 10th World Saxophone Congress in Pesaro, Italy in 1992.

There is plenty of counterpoint in this piece as well as lots of jazz phrasing.

The alto and tenor are featured in extended solo spots with backgrounds and the tenor plays a free cadenza later joined by the alto which can make an extremely exciting interlude before the D.C. and Coda.
